Adopt a pet

There are a lot of organizations that work against animal cruelty. Unfortunately in Mexico, people still aren´t aware of this social and health problem. The big effort that members of these organizations and volunteers are making is not enough to change people minds.  In Monterrey there are about five organizations who are in charge of picking up street dogs and give them for adoption. They need more space, resources, hands but most important - I think- are hearts and consciousness. Schools  and parents should teach  students  and children about this. About respecting and taking care of the environment, animals (all kinds), elderly people and each other.
Adopting NOT buying a pet, would make a significant change in reducing the population of street dogs. Sterilization too. Here are some great images from a website shelterdogs at Flickr. They are good images about reasons given by people when they relinquish their dogs to a shelter or rescue.

Three weeks ago I picked up two dogs from the street near my house. They were together and are very close friends. They are Laika and Ritter (aka  Nero). We are looking for a responsible and caring family to adopt them. They are very good, intelligent, obedient dogs. They are very kind like most of street dogs and very grateful of having a roof , food and water, but most important is that they have a lot of love.  They really need a lot of love because they are full of love and are willing to give it.  I would keep them but I already have a dog, a boxer and the space is barely enough for him. Besides I live with my parents and I can´t keep them in their house.
I hope this site help them to find a good house and a loving family.
